History of the Scholarship

On April 1, 2000, the Watson-Brown Foundation endowed a full graduate scholarship at the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business in memory of the Foundation’s longtime trustee and dear friend M. Monroe Kimbrel.

The late Monroe Kimbrel was an honors graduate of the Terry College of Business. Among his other notable professional accomplishments, Mr. Kimbrel served for twelve years as the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.

Today, M. Monroe Kimbrel is remembered in part through the distinguished MBA students who have earned the scholarship that bears his name and who subsequently have enjoyed the summer internship at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta where they walked in his footsteps.
